John Mark Nelson kemur nú við sínari triðju útgávu.
Frammanundan hevur hann útgivið pláturnar, Still Here og Waiting and Waiting. Hesar útgávurnar hevur hann sjálvur innspælt, men nú áhugin er blivin størri fyri tónleiki hansara, hevur hann ásett sær, at fáa hjálp frá royndari tónleikarum.
Ungi maðurin, ið er kendur lokalt í Minneapolis, Minnesota, hevur byrjað eitt kickstarter átak. Hetta hevur við sær at ein og hvør, sum hevur áhuga, kann hjálpa honum at fíggja komandi fløguna. Afturfyri ber til at fáa komandi útgávuna, áðrenn hon verður útgivin.
John Mark er nógv at hoyra á lokalu útvarps rásini the Current.
The Current spælir fjølbroyttan tónleik og tekur sær eisini av, at lokali tónleikurin verður hoyrdur runt um heimin.
Eg setti meg í samband við John Mark, fyri at spyrja um tónleik hansara og hendan áhugaverda mátan at fíggja komandi fløguna.
What got you started on making music?
I started playing music as a kid. My family is fairly musical and so it was natural to pick up an instrument. I started writing my own music at about age 12 and couldn’t stop after I started.
What is your reason for using kickstarter to finance your upcoming album?
A lot of artists don’t have the resources to finance a studio album, and Kickstarter is an effective way of getting the necessary funds to get into the studio. Another reason I used Kickstarter is it allows a large group of friends, family, and supporters to be a part of the album making process at the ground level. They get to follow the creation of a piece of art from beginning to end. I think that is a process that is really exciting and rewarding for fans and listeners.
Can you tell me what the Current means to up and coming artists?
The Current means a lot in Minneapolis. It is such a supportive radio station, and plays a very active role in seeking out up and coming musical acts. The Current gives artists like me and countless others a chance to grow their audience on a national and even international level. That is extremely advantageous for independent artists. We are very lucky in Minnesota because not every state has a radio station like the Current.
What inspires you to write songs?
I write songs about my own experience. People, places, and stories that I have experienced first hand. My songs are just installations of an autobiography.
Do you see yourself doing a concert in the Faroe Islands in the future?
YES. I will come whenever you will have me.
Takk fyri John Mark Nelson.
